Solar Pool Heating & Pool Heat Pumps
There are two types of pool heating systems that Prime Solar supply and install. Solar Pool Heating and Pool Heat Pumps. Depending on your requirements and location of your pool we will advise you which is the best option for you.
A solar pool heater uses the suns energy to heat the water. Water is circulated via your pool pump through the solar panels and back into the pool. The solar pool heating system does not use any electricity to heat the water and therefore does not have any additional monthly running costs. A correctly sized and installed solar pool heating system will give you a greatly extended swimming season.
An energy efficient pool heat pump will heat your pool so you can enjoy swimming all year round no matter what the weather is doing. A pool heat pump uses electricity and the warm air from the environment to heat the water in your pool. The water is circulated via you pool pump through the heat pump and back into your pool. The water temperature on a heat pump can be set to required temperature up to a Max of 35° C. An 8Kw pool heat pump being run for 6 hours a day will cost a maximum of about R14.00 per day in electricity. The electricity consumption can be reduced by reducing the temperature setting of the heat pump and by using a solar pool blanket.
We highly recommend the use of a solar pool blanket as it greatly reduces the heat loss from the water and can increase water temp by as much as 5° C through solar thermal heating during a sunny day.
